CAPBRETON, France (Monday, October 17, 2011) - As the World’s Best have already started their battle for a World Title in Portugal, let’s get back to what happened last week in France at the 2011 Quiksilver Pro France, on the beautiful breaks of La Graviere (Hossegor - France). Stop n°8 on the World Tour season this year, the Quiksilver Pro France once again delivered World Class action in clean conditions throughout the entire event. The World Final of the Quiksilver King of the Groms Series completed the event with a fantastic display of progressive surfing from the World’s Best under 16 years old kids. Gabriel Medina (BRA) 17, won the main event in an all-rookie final against Julian Wilson (AUS) for his second event on the World Tour. Medina, winner of the King of the Groms final in Hossegor two years ago with a perfect 20 heat total went on a rampage on the last day of the event to take out Kelly Slater (USA) in the quarter-finals, Taylor Knox (USA) in the semis, and besting Julian Wilson on the last wave of the final with an incredible 9.17 out of 10. Winner of the Moskova Trials earlier in the week, Ramzi Boukhiam (MOR) 18, made his first appearance on a World Tour event at the Quiksilver Pro France. Boukhiam, surfing in the European Junior series knows the South-West France region very well and was able to beat some more experienced surfers in the Trials final. «Quiksilver gave me the opportunity to enter the trials, I’m so thankful for that. On the first day it was really small and very hard to surf, but the organizers decided to wait for a better swell to surf the finals. It came out pretty good for me because I won the trials and I was really stoked with that !
